Alex Rose

Project Manager

Alex Rose has been the Science Editor of Ocean Geographic Magazine for the last 12 years. Additionally, she has been published in Alert Diver, Scuba Diving Magazine, Sea Technology Magazine, and has contributed text to three books. Rose has served as the Project Manager on several expeditions that were granted Explorers Club flags and she is excited to add BIG ACE to that list. As a vocal ocean advocate, she regularly gives public presentations on a variety of topics ranging from purposeful exploration and plastic pollution, to climate change and the ethics of underwater photography. Alex is also a professional photographer and videographer, accomplished violinist, Explorers Club Fellow, and PADI Divemaster.

In recent years, she has placed in several international underwater photography competitions including taking second in the UN World Ocean Day Photo Competition, first in the Beneath the Sea Imaging Awards, and Grand Prize in the National Wildlife Photo Contest. She founded a membership-based ocean conservation company, Blue Ring, at the beginning of 2017 in an effort to create a new method of ocean conservation accessible to and inclusive of everyone, and raises money every year to support the work of marine conservation nonprofits. Alex’s driving goal is to find ways to protect our planet’s precious marine habitats through diving, writing, photography, education, and research.
