Luca joined Twyford School, Hampshire in 2020 after immigrating to the United Kingdom from South Africa, where he attended St Davids School in Johannesburg. He is an avid sportsman and loves playing rugby, water polo and swimming. Luca currently represents Winchester Rugby and Football Club for rugby.

On a day-to-day level, Luca is a loving brother to Riley and Tyler and is a loving son to his parents Casey and Patrick. Whilst he loves being at home with his family, Luca’s favourite activity is travelling the world, and this is where his passion for the natural world, culture, wildlife and adventure was stimulated. Luca has always had a strong affinity to animals and their protection. Luca’s father, Patrick is an active member and Guardian of The Plum Foundation and it is Luca’s ambition is to get more involved with the foundational work as he grows up. The Plum Foundation is helping communities and independent organizations around the world to strive for a change in action for sustainable development and ecosystems redevelopment. The next decade for the survival of our world and to allow future generations to sustain it, is crucial and at The Plum Foundation, we put our best efforts to support rewilding projects, helping wilderness and ecosystems to recover and thrive again, with their focus on restoring forests and protecting corals and the marine environment. Luca is excited to be selected as a “Next Generation Key Opinion Ambassador” for the expedition and lending his voice to the Arctic wilderness and its wildlife.
